The highest decision-making body of the municipality
The municipal council exercises the highest decision-making power in the municipality. The municipal councillors are elected in municipal elections held every four years. The municipal council has 13 councillors.

The term of office of the municipal council is four years. The current term ends in 2029.
The chairman of the municipal council is Timo Sorvali (Central), 1st Vice-Chairman Petri Ylikoski (Central) and 2nd Vice-Chairman Pentti Virtanen (SDP). The Presidium also has the right to be present at municipal government meetings.
