Repair allowance
Elderly and disabled people can receive government assistance for repairs that improve the accessibility of their home or are needed to make it safe and healthy to live in. The condition for the assistance is that someone living permanently in the home must be over 65 years of age or disabled. The income and assets of all those living in the home affect whether they can receive assistance.
Sweeping
Fireplaces and chimneys in properties intended for permanent residential use must be swept at least once a year by law. The interval for sweeping second homes is at least three years. The owner or occupier is responsible for ensuring that the sweeping is carried out regularly to ensure fire safety.
