Maintenance of private roads

The municipality of Jämijärvi has a maintenance agreement with 33 road authorities. The municipality carries out maintenance work on these private roads in accordance with the valid agreements. The municipality puts out tenders for the work included in the maintenance agreement at certain intervals. Other maintenance and basic rehabilitation measures for private roads are carried out independently by the road authorities.

Private road grants

Municipal private road grants

The municipality of Jämijärvi grants discretionary grants annually to so-called minor roads. Private roads that have permanent settlements in their area of ​​influence and that are not covered by the municipality's maintenance agreement can apply for the grant.

The municipality will inform you about the grant application periods and application forms through the municipal channels when the application is current.

State private road subsidies

The road authority can apply for a grant to improve a private road. The grants are discretionary and the eligibility for state grants is conditional on:

• a road authority has been established on the road
• Information regarding road management and private roads is up-to-date in the private road register and the road and street network information system Digiroad.

There is no minimum size for eligible improvement projects, but in practice, projects under 10,000 euros are rarely supported. The grant is not awarded retrospectively.

Grants are primarily allocated to projects where traffic on the road has been completely blocked or is at risk of being blocked due to damage.
