Villages

Kauppilankylä, located to the south and east of the city center, is one of Satakunta's regionally significant cultural environments. Kauppilankylä is characterized by open lakeside landscapes and old peasant farms.

Kierikankylä is located between Kauppilankylä and Hämeenkangas and Jämi. Kierikankylä's hilly farmlands and beaches are of scenic value. The history of the Soini farm dates back to the 1500th century.

Kontti is a village located in an island-like area in the eastern part of the lake. The landscape varies between old and newer houses and farm centers, as well as fields sloping gently towards the lake. Kontti village has been inhabited since the 1500th century. The old barn on Kontti farm apparently dates back to the 1500th century, making it one of the oldest wooden buildings in Finland. The Kontti — Pitkäniemi village association operates in the Kontti area. The village association organizes events on the traditional Vauhti stage.

Korvenkylä is located between Palokoski and Tykkö. The landscape of Korvenkylä consists of scattered farms, large open fields and surrounding forests.

The village of Kuusijoen is located in the southeastern corner of the municipality. As its name suggests, the village consists of fields and houses around the small Kuusijoki River, which flows through the fields, as well as the surrounding forest and marsh areas.

Palojoki is a village located between Korvenkylä and Suurimaa. The village gets its name from the river that flows through the village, which flows into Palolahti, Lake Jämijärvi, at Palokoski. The village landscape consists of fields and houses around the river, as well as the surrounding forest and marsh areas.

The landscape of Palokoski is dominated by the Palojoki and Naurisjoki rivers and the coastal fields leading to Palolahti in Jämijärvi. The road leading from the center of Jämijärvi to Kankaanpää crosses the Palojoki River along a granite stone bridge. The Palokoski Village Association operates in the Palokoski area. The village association's hut is located on the riverbank.

The village of Polja is located on the southern shore of the western part of the lake, north of Hämeenkangas and the surrounding marshlands. The landscape of Polja includes farms and houses located on the shore of the lake, as well as extensive fields. Hämeenkangas rises higher on the horizon than the surrounding areas.

The village of Pitkäni is located in the southeast corner of the municipality, east of Mielahti. There has been a permanent settlement in Pitkäni since the 1500th century. The landscape of Pitkäni is dominated by rolling fields leading towards the lake. Behind Mielahti, the silhouette of the Hämeenkangas ridge area can be seen. The Kontin — Pitkäni village association operates in the Pitkäni area.

Ruupanperä is a village located between the city center and Tykkö. The landscape includes both fields and diverse forests with rocky hills and bogs.

Sorrinperä is a village located in the northwestern corner of the municipality, along the Naurisjoki River. The settlement and fields are located on the banks of the river. They are surrounded by forested bogs and drier coniferous forests.

As its name suggests, Suurimaa is a large village in the northern part of the municipality, with a land area of ​​1,000 square kilometers. The landscape consists of open fields around the Palojoki River, farm centers in the middle of them, and surrounding forests and oases. The village association and village hall are run by the Suurimaa Agricultural and Household Association.

Tykköön village is located between the city center and Suurimaa. The center of the village landscape is the small Tykköönjärvi, which is surrounded by fields and farm centers that slope gently to the shore, as well as forest areas. Tykköön has a very active village association. The village association has a village hall built by itself, which includes a smoke sauna and a hut.

The village of Vihu is located in the southwestern part of the municipality between the lake and the Hämeenkangas ridge area. The landscape of Vihu is dominated by extensive fields with farm centers and forest islands, as well as the surrounding marshes. The village hall of the Vihu village association is called Möökel.
