Geisenfeld, Germany

The municipality of Jämijärvi has had close cooperation with the German city of Geisenfeld for twenty years. The municipality of Jämijärvi and the city of Geisenfeld signed an official cooperation agreement in 2018. The twinning also includes close cooperation between schools.

Geisenfeld is located in the state of Bavaria, about 60 km north of Munich. The small town of Geisenfeld has a population of about 11,700, and new residents are constantly moving to the area. Major employers in the area include the Audi factory in the neighboring city of Ingolstadt and Airbus Defence and Space, which makes Airbuses and Eurofighters, among others.

The landscape of Geisenfeld is dominated by hop plantations. In the Hallertau region, to which Geisenfeld belongs, hops are cultivated on over 15,000 hectares. For comparison, the arable area of ​​Jämijärvi is approx. 5,500 ha. Renewable energy is supported in many ways in Germany. Solar panel fields have also become common in the landscape of Geisenfeld.

Paide, Estonia

The city of Paide is located in Central Estonia, in the Järvamaa region. Twinning activities with Paide have been limited in recent years, as the original twinning municipality of Jämijärvi was Roosna-Alliku municipality, which joined the city of Paide and the municipality of Paide to form the city of Paide from 2018. Roosna-Alliku became a small town (alevik) of the city (linn).

Paide has a population of about 10,000 and its history dates back to the Middle Ages. Paide is located an hour's drive from Tallinn, along Highway 2 (E263) leading to Tartu.
