Jämijärvi has its own self-government
Decision-making in Jämijärvi is based on the municipality's own self-government.
The highest decision-making authority in the municipality is exercised by the municipal council, which consists of 13 members. Other bodies of trust include the municipal government, the education committee, and the technical committee. In addition, there are statutory committees, the audit committee and the central election committee.
The chairman of the municipal council is Timo Sorvali (Central), Chairman of the Municipal Board Samuli Aholanranta (Central) and the mayor Aku Autio.
The municipality's operations are guided by a municipal strategy, which has been approved for the years 2026–2029.
