The task of the Council for the Elderly and Disabled is to promote cooperation between authorities, elderly and disabled people, and elderly and disabled organizations in the municipality of Jämijärvi. The Council for the Elderly and Disabled helps the aforementioned to participate in and influence municipal decision-making.

The Council for the Elderly and Disabled strives to promote the equal participation of elderly and disabled people in various activities in society, such as education, work, housing, social and healthcare services, and cultural and recreational activities.

The Council for the Elderly and Disabled monitors the municipality's decision-making from the perspective of the elderly and disabled to organize services, support measures and other benefits specifically intended for them, and to improve their availability in Jämijärvi.

The Council for the Elderly and Disabled makes proposals and initiatives, monitors the implementation of measures, and issues statements to municipal authorities on issues concerning the elderly and disabled.

The Jämijärvi Senior Citizens' Council meets 4 times during the calendar year at the invitation of the chairman.

Jämijärvi Youth Council

What is youth council?

Youth councils represent the youth of the municipality in municipal decision-making. The task of the council is to make the voice of young people heard, to take a stand on current issues and to make initiatives and statements. The purpose of the councils is also to inform young people about the activities of municipal decision-makers and to help young people find ways to influence.

In addition, Nuvas promote dialogue between young people and decision-makers and genuinely involve young people in the joint decision-making process. Nuvas also organize various events, campaigns and activities. You can get involved by contacting a Nuva instructor.

The youth council has an impact

The Jämijärvi Youth Council has the right to speak and be present in the Welfare, Education and Technical Committee and in the Municipal Council. Nuva also has the right to direct initiative in the Municipal Council. The people of Nuva in Jämijärvi participate in training courses organised by the Finnish Association of Youth Councils and act as part of the welfare area's own youth council, Satanuva.
